South African Universities Shut Down as Students Protest School Fees (PICTURES)

South African students protesting against hike school fees have vowed to completely shut down all tertiary institutions in the country on Wednesday.

The protests, which have seen several institutions shut down, began after the proposed increase of fees by 17% at the Tshwane University of Technology, 40% at the University of Pretoria and 10.5% at the University of Witwatersrand.

Speaking with News24, the Deputy Chairperson of the South African Students Congress (Sasco), Gauteng, Sthembiso Ndlovu, said they want an end to school fees.
